NLP Hypnotic Language: How To Effectively Use Tag Questions

Dec 25th, 2009 by

Tag questions, regardless of their simplicity and frequency of use, are very useful tools for influence as they help you to make certain that your listeners are receptive to your ideas . A tag question is simply a negative question hooked on to the end of a sentence. A few examples of tag questions are – Isn’t it? Can’t you? Haven’t you.  To understand the importance of tag questions in developing a more responsive listener just stick one at the end of a sentence and observe how the listener will immediately nod or shake their head (which ever is appropriate) without even know what they’re agreeing to most of the time, aren’t they? You may be reading these thinking ‘well I use these all the time but I’m not some all mighty master of influence’. This may be true but this article is going to show you how to use them at the most appropriate times. World famous speakers like John Grinder have spoken of this need to get people into a ‘yes’ set – a receptive frame of mind. An efficient way of doing this is to offer the listener three statements, observations or questions that must be true. Once the client has observed the factual nature of these statements they will start to feel a deeper level of trust towards you and they will have developed into the habit of agreeing with you. Tag questions, in conjunction with other techniques, are wonderful ways of eliciting this state. To demonstrate this a therapist could say ‘you came to see me because you had a problem with X (1st true observation), you had this problem for X months (2nd true observation) and now that we have spoken a little you feel confident we can work together to solve this problem, don’t you? (3rd observation). Useful Tip: To help move a problem into the past the therapist could have said ‘you had this problem for X months, didn’t you?’ This is much more effective than saying ‘you’ve had this problem for X months, haven’t you?’ or even worse ‘you’re having this problem, aren’t you?’. You see the importance of using tag questions now, don’t you? To effectively deliver a tag question you must use a lowering command tone as you would an embedded command at the end of the sentence rather than a rising question. Milton H. Erickson, the pioneer of indirect hypnosis and one of the greatest hypnotherapist of all time used tag questions with a command tone regularly as a way of ensuring that his patients were open to his commands. He would often say things like ‘and you can…focus more…can’t you?’ (Notice the use of embedded commands in bold in conjunction with the tag questions). while watching his videos one will often see the subject nodding passively without any resistance. You can also used tag questions as reinforcement for post hypnotic suggestions. For example, it is more powerful to say ‘and you will find more confidence…wont you? than ‘and you will find more confidence.’ As you can see tag questions can be an incredibly powerful linguistic tool to help you along the way to persuasion mastery. Strangely enough many people overlook their importance and use more ‘complex’ language patterns when in reality these can have someone agreeing sooner than another technique, can’t they? Jimmy McIntyre is the author of http://everydayhypnoticlanguage.blogspot.com/. This is a blog that offers the reader practical everyday examples of hypnotic language patterns. The Hypnotic Handshake Induction

Dec 23rd, 2009 by

The handshake induction is a great way to quickly induce trance, and comes under the category of a rapid induction. Many call it an instant induction, but this is, I believe, inaccurate as after you have interrupted the handshake the person does not stay in trance for more than a few seconds. You have to deepen the trance and then lead the person to your result, be it to heal him (this works better on men) or persuade him to do something. The deepening often goes something like: “now just look at your hand and as your eyes refocus I want you to become aware of your slow and steady deep breathing, as your eyes begin to close now and you become more and more relaxed. When next you breath in your unconscious mind will take this as a signal, and will completely take over, leaving your conscious mind to wonder freely. perhaps in a peaceful relaxing forest, where the leaves crunch underfoot and you can smell the pine needles in the air, and as you continue to tread through this forest you notice the soft chime of bird calls and you breath in the rich forest air and feel yourself more relaxed with every breath you take.” This patter will continue until the subject is deeply in trance, look for signs such as twitching eyelids and slow deep breathing, then you can begin to lead them to your outcome. The handshake inductions are a form of pattern interrupts, where an unconscious pattern is interrupted. In many people, especially male adults, shaking hands is an unconscious action, so interrupting it causes a gap, which you have to be quick an crafty to fill. Pattern interrupts are a fun way to induce trance, here is a Derren Brown style one: in the middle of a conversation (it has to be flowing for best effect) just say something completely out of place, such as “is the wall outside your house 2 feet tall?” Say this and just watch their mind go blank, then quickly anchor it and fire it off later. Can Everyone Be Hypnotized?

Dec 22nd, 2009 by

This is a question which I get asked almost every day of the week. I guess being a hypnotherapist is just not a run of the mill job! Most people are more familiar with stage hypnosis than they are with its therapeutic uses and so have a fair number of questions upon the subject, including this one. We are all unique and individual and therefore our experience of hypnosis will reflect this. Just as some people are more calm and relaxed and others more tense, and some of us are more outgoing and others more introverted, etc, some of us will enter deeper states of hypnosis than others. The depth of hypnosis reached, however, does NOT directly correspond to your normal state of calmness/tension or introversion/extraversion. In fact, hypnosis is not just a state of relaxation; it is at the same time a state of heightened awareness. And if you are anxious you will already be in a state of heightened awareness, and this can make it easier to enter hypnosis than might otherwise be the case. In actual fact only about 5% of the population cannot be hypnotized, the rest of us will enter hypnosis to one degree or another. About 10% of people will be hypnotized very deeply, as is seen in a traditional stage show. This deep trance phenomenon is NOT needed for therapeutic purposes. ALL levels of hypnosis are conducive to therapeutic intervention. The therapeutic applications of hypnosis are many. You may use hypnosis simply as a way to learn to totally relax and be “in the now” as you would with meditation. You can use hypnosis to aid recall, to alter habits like weight loss hypnosis or stop smoking hypnosis; you may use hypnosis to apply the principles of NLP or you may use hypnosis to dull the sensation of pain even to the extent of inducing hypno-anaesthesia. As a hypnotherapist I am extremely lucky to have such a varied and interesting job. Hypnosis can be used to assist in anything which has a psychological aspect, which is pretty much everything. Everything which you experience in life is colored by how you think about it, by your focus, beliefs and attitudes. Hypnosis allows you to direct and control your thoughts, both conscious and subconscious, and so is a massively empowering state. You will usually find that as you use hypnosis you will become more and more deeply hypnotizable. I recommend that anybody who is considering hypnotherapy purchases a hypnosis download, and listens to this at home a few times as an easy introduction to the natural art of hypnosis. Like most things you undertake in life, you get better at it with practice; as you use hypnosis downloads you will find that you can relax more and more deeply and quickly each time. The hypnotic induction technique used on this type of hypnosis download is a progressive relaxation procedure. As you listen to these hypnotherapy recordings you will find that your body will become progressively more relaxed and free from tension and stress, and as this happens your mind relaxes as well. It is impossible to have a relaxed body at the same time as a tense mind, and vice versa. Hypnosis feels fantastic. It is like taking a mini holiday or giving yourself a mental massage. In this day and age there is all too much stress, tension and anxiety and so it is no wonder that so many people are turning to hypnosis downloads for help. Reverting to the question of whether or not everyone is hypnotizable, the answer is yes, so long as you can attend to and understand the spoken word, and so long as you WANT to. And who would not want to benefit from the therapeutic power of this normal and natural state? Roseanna Leaton, specialist in hypnosis downloads for health, self-improvement, well-being and success.   With a degree in psychology and qualifications in hypnotherapy, NLP and sports psychology, Roseanna Leaton is one of the leading practitioners of self-improvement. Learn How To Hypnotize Anyone

Dec 22nd, 2009 by

Do you want to learn how to hypnotize anyone? To most of us, Hypnosis is a scary thought, someone taking control of our body and mind while we’re in a trance like state. Although this is the common perception of how hypnosis works, but this is quite faulty. Hypnosis requires lots of trust and bonds between the subject and the hypnotist. Any good hypnotist will tell you that most important factor are the mood. Make sure you introduce yourself politely and build a sense of trust. If the person feels un-easy, it’s very likely the procedure won’t work because they are suppressing it. Hypnosis doesn’t induce trance and brainwash, in fact, modern psychologists best describe the process of hypnosis as ‘channelling one’s imagination’. The hypnotist simply acts as a guide while coaxing the subject into a state of relaxation. If you want to learn how to hypnotize, make sure you set an ambient mood, ask the person to close their eyes. Softly, but firmly, using your voice tell them they are relaxing and through means of tone and repetition attempt to relax them into a dream-like state, where you can begin to make positive input into their life which they will later have the choice to follow or ignore.Being a hypnotist is a job that requires patience, hard-work and lots of trust building. Learn how to hypnotize anyone probably isn’t what you thought it could be, but it can be very bonding, thought-provoking and spiritual. Evidently, you can Learn How To Hypnotize Anyone without them knowing it by using “underground hypnosis techniques”. There are many people who have used the techniques and achieved what they want in life. You may also like to read some REAL people’s feedback and comments after applying the techniques to change their life.

Power Tactics in Hypnosis: How to Use Status to Influence the Hypnotic Subject

Dec 20th, 2009 by

Power tactics that are used in hypnosis have been used for many, many years; they are strategies that are key in the influence and persuasion of those around you.  These tactics will help you to change the lives of those around you for the better, as well as your own. As you learn how to use power tactics you will want to keep in mind the different concepts of hypnotic language foundations, rapport skills and signal recognition skills.  Keep these in the back of your mind because as you learn power tactics you will want to start to combine them all to create a powerful way of being a hypnotist. It is important to realize that at some point you will want to converge all the information you are learning in to smooth flowing patterns that will enhance your overall ability to be a great hypnotist. Power tactics, which are very old and very useful, in hypnosis are the strategies that allow you to become the authority in a person’s trance.  They enable you to take on the role of high status, which is our first tactic. The power tactic of ‘High Status’ is a role you will take on with your subject in order to get them to follow your suggestions.  It is important to note here that high status has nothing to do with your person; it is not about wealth or moral judgment.  It is simply a place in the set of roles you take on in society everyday. High status, equal status and low status are all different roles we play within the relationships we have.  Some people are natural high status people; they are comfortable and are good at taking control of the conversation.  Others are low status people and are more of a passenger in conversations, they chime in when necessary but other than that mostly agree with what is being said by others. The different roles we choose varies depending on the people we are with and the situations we are in.  It is important for you as a hypnotist to understand these roles and know when you need to play that of high or low status.  The best part of choosing a role to play after you understand them is that it gives you the most flexibility in conversations you have and the people you are working with. Now of course as a hypnotist you will want to be in a role of high status, this will make you the authority figure.  As the authority figure people will want to do what you suggest and follow your advice. The problem with this is that some people are not flexible in the types of people they feel comfortable dealing with.  There are people who are comfortable being low status and others who are only comfortable in high status. You will need to determine what type of person you are dealing with to determine which role you will need to initially take on.  I say initially because you will want to eventually be of high status in your hypnotic relationships. However there will be time you need to start as a low status person.  If you are dealing with a person who distrusts or dislikes those of high status you will take on a low status role until the person trusts and likes you.  They need to feel comfortable with you. When you take on the role of low status you will be less assertive, feed them information subconsciously and set up the correct frames to gain their trust. When you take on the role of a high status you will need to include two distinct concepts in your authority role.  These are your body language and behavior, which include your tonality.  These are the two things that will signal others as to what status you are in, they will cause a difference in how you are perceived by the other people around you. When you give off signals of a high status people will respond to you more powerfully.  This is a good sign but it is also important to remember the situations where you need to play low status and change your signals to accommodate that need.  This is something you will have to do for as long as it takes until those around you are comfortable dealing with a high status person. It is also possible to need to change status when dealing with the same person depending on the situation you are in.  This is a powerful tactic in order to break down resistance. Now how do you become a high status person?  What mannerisms does a high status person give off?  You have encountered them countless times, and more than likely interact with high status people all the time. People who are in high status role are those who send out signals of relaxed manner.  They are very comfortable with themselves and are confident in the things they do and say.  Some distinguishing characteristics of high status people are easy to spot. High status individuals exhibit Calm Movements.  These people are calm and unhurried; they do not rush through their actions, words or thoughts.  And those around them respond to these people as if they are in control of the situations they are in. If you goal is to be a high status role in your hypnotic relationships then you need to take on these behaviors.  It is important to avoid being jumpy, jerky or nervous.  Many low status people will have repetitive movements or ticks, they will wring their hands or bounce a leg constantly, and these are behaviors to avoid. Another high status signal is the way you use the space around you.  High status people use their space widely.  Low status individuals take up as little space as possible by crossing their arms and legs and often sitting in corners. High status people will use large motions, stand in a room, sit in a room, and even lean back in chairs.  High status people are also not intimidated by occasionally invading others private space.  They will give you a pat on the back or unsuspected hug, they simply feel comfortable naturally. The third signal of a high status person is that they will expose the vulnerable parts of their body.  As humans we have vulnerable part we are constantly subconsciously aware of; these being the throat, abdomen and groin.  When we feel threatened we will unknowingly protect these areas.  We may cross our arms or legs, even if the attack is only a verbal one we will attempt to protect ourselves. Those in high status will leave these areas of the body open or exposed.  They feel confident enough in their defenses to not be worried.  Often they are so comfortable in their environments that they simply feel no danger of an attack. The fourth and final signal of a high status person is steady eye contact.  One of the most interesting things about human beings is that you can often tell exactly what emotion they are having by looking at their eyes.  The eyes are directly connected to the brain and therefore give away many clues to your thinking. Low status individuals will have nervous eyes, darting around, unable to focus on one thing for too long.  High status people will be able to fix their eyes on something; a person, place, thing or point in space without a problem.  They will have an unwavering steady gaze that is the signature of their calm state of mind. In order to take on a high status role you must study and embody these traits. In doing this people who are not intimidated by others of high status will feel more comfortable around you. You will find they are even more willing to open themselves up to you in many different situations. HypnosisBest Holiday Gifts

The Handshake Interrupt and Pull Instant Hypnotic Induction

Dec 17th, 2009 by

If you are familiar with the traditional versions of the hypnotic handshake induction you will know that it works on the principle of pattern interrupts. As shaking hands is something most of us just do automatically, naturally, it means it is a hard wired unconscious pattern. (like tying your shoes, writing your signature, brushing your teeth, things you just do without thinking.) Now when this pattern is interrupted a state of total blankness is induced. What happens is you take the mind down one track (shaking hands) which activates the unconscious pattern and automatic behavior. Just as they are comfortable on this automatic road, and their unconscious mind is operating the behavior without any conscious input you interrupt the pattern. Doing something unexpected which breaks the pattern throws their mind off the track, and leaves them in a state of total blankness, desperately searching for another track to jump on induces “hyper suggestibility.” In other words, a total willingness to follow whatever you suggest (within reason of course!). There are no limits to how you can interrupt the pattern or what pattern you can interrupt (do not restrict yourself to handshake inductions!). But in this particular induction we will focus on an arm pull. Once you are shaking their hand and they are in the handshake pattern (just basically when they are in the act of shaking your hand in a natural and normal way) you give a sharp pull on their arm (the one you are shaking) with yours. Be sure to avoid seeming violent, and be gentle enough to ensure you do not cause any pain or injury (no folks, dislocating arms does not make a good induction!). This jerk on their arm breaks the pattern so dramatically they are hurled right off the track and enter a state of total and utter dumfoundment which you can quickly fill with your suggestion. Now, when a clown offers his hand and then jerks it away when you go to shake it this leaves you in a dazed state for a second or so, but you soon snap out of it. Which is why after you have broken the pattern you must act promptly to fill the gap, otherwise they will simply gather their thoughts and carry on as usual (in my experience often with total amnesia for the interrupt). With such a dramatic break it tends to be more powerful is you are very direct and authoritarian with your suggestion. “Sleep Now!” or just “Sleep” have proven to be very effective in my experience. Now they’re in a trance, but your work is not finished as you nearly always must then move quickly onto a deepener to ensure they stay in trance and reach an appropriate depth. Once you have this you can give your hypnotic suggestions. Be sure to practice this method and pattern interrupts in general to enhance your skill and confidence, and be sure to have a decent understanding of how to deepen the trance, how to give them suggestions once you have them “under,” and how to emerge them once you are done. A great learning tool is to simply have fun with it. This method in particular may not work every time, if something does not turn out quite right treat it as a learning experience and leap back into the fray to do it again, and the more you practice the better you get, and the better you get the more fun you have! Hypnosis Mind Control Techniques – How to Hypnotize Someone Instantly

Dec 17th, 2009 by

If you’re wondering how to hypnotize someone instantly, then you certainly can’t miss the chance to learn one of the secret hypnosis mind control techniques that I’m going to give you now. Before I continue further, I’d like to assure you that the information that I’ll be revealing to you right now is very easy to understand and please don’t make things complicated. Have you heard of the ”liking” principal? If not, let me explain. This principal is one of the obvious hypnosis mind control techniques that people or we use to learn how to hypnotize someone instantly. That person won’t realize that he or she is indeed using it in life to get something from someone. This principal can be defined as ”the more we like a person, the more we want to say YES to that person”. If anyone from your family or your friends came and approached you for help, how many times have you said ”NO” to them? I’m sure that most of the time we have somehow said ”YES” and helped them. If you’re wondering how to use this principal to learn how to hypnotize someone instantly, let me explain. We already know that we’re likely to do favours for people that we like. The same goes to the other party. If they like you, chances are high for them to return or do a favour for you. Of course you can easily use it to someone that you already know for a long time. However you can also make someone that you’ve just me for 5 minutes or total strangers to like you instantly and do you any favour. Sound unbelievable? It’s not if you’ve learned one of the secret hypnosis mind control techniques that I promised to give you earlier in this article. Let me explain. Mirroring or matching other people’s behavior, actions, and words can instantly win someone’s heart.People like a person that has similarities with them. If you want to win someone’s heart or friendship, the first thing that you’ve to do is to notify any frequently used words or actions that he or she is repeating. Then mirror or match the actions or words while communicating with that person. If a girl keep using the word ”love” in her communication, then mirror and use it back while talking to her. Silently but slowly she will start to notify the similarities that both of you have. Sooner or later the relationship will prosper and end up in ”friendship” or at least she will ”like” you. This is where the”liking” principle comes into action. Now it’s totally possible for you to unconsciously hypnotize someone instantly to do something for you. And I would like to invite you to claim your FREE information on

Hypnotize your way to success!

Dec 13th, 2009 by

Have you read the book, The Secret? It says that if you really believe something, it will happen.  There is some truth to that, but it’s oversimplified.  Wanting it and believing it are only half the battle.  You also have to take steps to get there.  Wanting and believing are only valuable insofar as they motivate action. This is where hypnosis beats “The Secret.”  When you hypnotize yourself (or when someone else hypnotizes you) you are planting the mental seeds that the so-called “Law of Attraction” suggests you need to plant.  You are planting them at exactly the right depth, in just the right soil, and watering them.  If you want to know a real secret, I’ll tell you one:  Get yourself a good hypnotist (or become one) or hypnotism program and start planting those seeds if you want your life to change! Hypnosis was the last, desperate straw for me.  I had a drinking problem, couldn’t quit smoking, my marriage was failing, and to top it all off, I couldn’t get a job and had no money in the bank.  If you think you’ve got it bad, you should have seen me just a few short months ago.  I was a wreck.  A friend suggested a therapist, and the therapist hypnotized me in her office.  Amazingly, I quit smoking the next day without even having planned on doing that at the beginning of the session!  I was hooked.  I went back for several more sessions, and the pieces of my shattered life started falling back into place. I was so impressed that I learned how to hypnotize myself and others.  (I wish I had done that before spending hundreds of dollars on therapy.)  The concept is simple but it takes a while to learn.  You induce a state of deep relaxation, then plant suggestions in the subconscious mind.  The exact “how” of doing this is well beyond the scope of this article,  but essentially you need something repetitive and soothing, then you gradually take your subject (or yourself) into a trance state and plant the seeds. After you do that, the actions will follow.  There’s nohing secret about it. Read this review of The Secret, and if you’re dealing with anxiety, definitely read this.Free Wordpress Plugins

The Role of Hypnotic Rapport in Hypnosis

Dec 11th, 2009 by

Hypnosis is a deep and complicated process where the hypnotist and subject must have a wide rapport to support.  When you participate in conducting a hypnotic trance your unconscious will be opened to them.  Because of this it is important to have the experience you wish them to partake in at the forefront of your mind when starting the rapport. Rapport is not a term generated just for use in hypnosis.  It happens with everyone you come into conversational contact with.  And the rapport you develop with your subjects is instrumental in conducting successful conversational hypnosis. Hypnosis is anything but a casual relationship between two people.  It is a deep connection that must be supported with good rapport.  Anything you feel will unconsciously be projected upon the person you are trying to hypnotize.  Because of this it is paramount that you learn to take your rapport skills out of the range of normal and beyond. Hypnotic rapport is a time tested relationship.  It has been present since people have been in existence.  It is not fully understood and may never be, but it is very powerful. Rapport is powerful in the sense that anytime a person around you experiences a trance they will inevitably take on a deeper connection with you and your unconscious mind.  This deepens the trust between the participants and offers a sense of comfort in your company. Going first, or ‘go first’ concept is an important one to become highly familiar with.  In ‘go first’ you as the hypnotist must first enter the environment and experience you want your subject to have. The reason you need to enter the experience before your hypnotic subject is so they will pick that experience up from your subconscious as they are in trance.  Because every time a person goes into trance around you they develop an unconscious connection with you, if you have the experience at the forefront of your mind they will bring it back with them after the hypnosis is concluded. As you begin to make hypnotic connections with other people you will be unconsciously exploring their mind as they will be making a connection with your unconscious as well.  This is a powerful part of hypnosis.  It allows each person to explore thoughts and ideas they never knew they had until that precise moment. An example of this is prevalent in our everyday lives.  We have all met people that we have a difficult time connecting with.  You may have the same conversations over and over with little success in a real connection.  It may seem that there is some sort of barrier up between the two of you.  You never quite get past the small talk questions because you are not comfortable enough to advance into a deeper relationship. This relationship is skewed because on an unconscious level these people are sub-communicating their sense of distrust and non ability to be comfortable around you.  This atmosphere within in a person you are trying to connect with will shut down your thoughts and ideas.  This will happen even before those thoughts and ideas have even had a chance to properly develop and come to your conscious. On the other hand you probably meet people that you seem to have an instant connection with.  In these situations it can seem that the thoughts and ideas are flowing from you endlessly.  Ideas you never even realized you had come easily and seamlessly carry your listener.  You are charismatic with these people, your ideas are good, and they come out well. Split personality?   No. This is the way most people work.  Those who are confident, comfortable and trusting in themselves often send out unconscious signals to others that produce the same effect in others.  People who are not sure of themselves or comfortable will unconsciously cut off successful communications before they have had a chance to even try. In hypnosis you will want to have the effect of the second situation.  If you have a good rapport with your subjects and they feel comfortable and trusting around you they will be able to easily open up to you.  You can aid in this process by making the mental environment even more comfortable by using the ‘go first’ method in hypnosis. It is important to remember that hypnosis is no casual relationship.  You want your clients and the people around you to feel as if they have known you for years and can open up to you anywhere. Developing and instant rapport with a complete stranger is a skill that will attribute to your success as a hypnotist. This is established through good rapport. Good rapport can be established through different methods such as the ‘go first’ method. Learn more Learn Hypnosis WP Autoblog Plugin
